A TENT CITY...
Imagine living in a a community without electricity and running water; and where bathroom facilities are - well - nearby.
Apache Powder Company was founded in spring of 1920, and construction started shortly thereafter. At that time, many workers did not have cars, so a tent village soon sprung up, on company property outside plant boundaries. This was not a grim place where construction workers bunked at night, but a thriving little community of families with small children, businesses, and even a few old folks. The tents were replaced by conventional homes in about 1928.
This, with two companion videos, received the BEST EDITING award
at the 2015 Southeast Arizona Independent Film Festival in Wilcox Arizona.
A fun little video. Enjoy!
